Our team of Orthodontists all pride themselves on the clinical results they achieve in obtaining the perfect smile for you.
They are all clinical specialists with many years of experience in both Practice and Hospital environments. In order to be classed as a Specialist Orthodontist with the General Dental Council (GDC), a fully qualified dentist needs to carry out three years further training to become an orthodontist.
As specialists they are in the best position to give you an unbiased opinion regarding the best treatment option for you.
David qualified as a dentist in 1990 at Kings in London. In 1993 he obtained his first Masters degree from Dundee in restorative dentistry. He then spent several years at Leeds Dental Institute as a lecturer. He obtained his Fellowship in 2000, second Masters in 2002 and qualified as an orthodontist at the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital and Chesterfield Royal Hospital before joining a practice in Sheffield as a partner in 2003.
David became joint practice owner of Chesterfield Orthodontics in 2019.
Jon qualified as a dentist in 1990 from Sheffield University. After a year as a House Officer at the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital Jonathan spent six years in general practice in Doncaster and Sheffield. He obtained his Fellowship in 1999, Masters in 2002 and qualified as an orthodontist at the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital and Chesterfield Royal Hospital before joining a practice in Sheffield as a partner in 2003.
Jon became joint practice owner of Chesterfield Orthodontics in 2019.
Claire joined the practice in 2013, and works for us part-time. She qualified from Newcastle University in 2004, and also trained as a specialist orthodontist there, obtaining her qualifications in 2010.
Claire lives in Derbyshire, and her main hobbies are fell running, cycling and being in the outdoors.
Ajay qualified from Leeds University in 2000 and completed his specialist orthodontic training in Sheffield and Derby in 2009.
Ajay also works at Chesterfield Royal Hospital treating complex cases alongside the Consultant Orthodontist.
Ajay lives in Sheffield and enjoys travelling and spending time with his young growing family.
Much of the treatment is done by our Therapists, under the supervision of the Orthodontists. All have undergone a 1 year training course; Emma, Kate and Sophie qualified from Manchester University in 2009, 2013 and 2016. Amy trained at UCLAN (Preston), qualifying in 2010, whilst Keri qualified from Warwick University in 2013 and 2019. They are all highly skilled clinicians, and are hugely important to us in managing our busy case load.
The role of our Treatment Coordinator (TCO) is to personalise the service that you will receive with Chesterfield Orthodontics. Laura Thickett will conduct one-to-one treatment consultations with you, present the treatment and finance options and then follow up throughout the treatment to ensure you enjoy a positive experience from beginning to end.
She will coordinate and work with all areas of the practice, including the Clinicians and Reception staff, whilst providing support and advice throughout your treatment.
We offer free consultations with the TCO for all of our private patients. You will be able to discuss our interest-free payment options which are normally taken over an 18 month period.

Assisting in surgery are nurses Debbie Mycock, Lisa Barnett, Kelly Henderson, Alice Rodick, Victoria Wilson, Abby Dawson, Emily Swallow, Carrie-Anne Cole and Jess Evans.
Laura White is our Receptionist and qualified Dental Nurse. She also acts as our Office Manager and works with Laura Thickett to assist in the Private Treatment Coordinator role. Kelly acts as our Quality Assurance Manager.
Kelly and Debbie are also qualified as Oral Health Educators.
Most of the team are qualified to take X-Rays and are also trained to take impressions and photographs of our patients.
